Nike Introduces Two New Sports Watches For Lance Armstrong

Nike Timing introduces the Lance Race, the latest-and lightest-of the cycling-specific sports watches in Lance Armstrong's signature line, which Nike has designed over the past five years. Nike designers, working with feedback from Armstrong, created the new watch using a glass-filled nylon case instead of titanium. The result: the new Lance Race watch weighs just 75 grams, 25% lighter that the Lance 4 Titanium. In a sport like cycling, where seconds are precious and weight is the enemy, every gram counts. The Lance Race also features a high-contrast yellow LCD display, a nod to the jersey signifying the Tour's leader and yellow's use as a symbol of hope, courage and perseverance. This is the same watch that Lance wore this summer during his sixth straight Tour victory.

A second watch, also inspired by Armstrong, will be delivered to retail this fall. The Lance Race Chrono is a classic and stylish titanium-case watch, featuring a custom chronograph dial face. With cross-cut buttons, a one-piece pinless strap and an engraved and paint-filled Lance Armstrong signature on the backplate, it's the perfect watch to wear pre- or post-race.

  • Lance Race watch weighs just 75 grams, includes race user-interface with time, altimeter, data, alarm and high-contrast yellow LCD display.
  • Lance Race Chrono also debuts - sleek and elegant custom chronograph watch inspired by Lance Armstrong for post-race wear.

To Watch Out For: Distinctively Levi's® Timepieces

Iconic American denim fashion label Levi's® brand launches a range of watches for the Spring/Summer 2005 season that reflects its spirit of innovation while capturing its qualities of originality, independence and youthfulness.

Inspired by the classic Red TabTM apparel collection, the timepieces have ingenious mechanical and unique analogue displays that tell more than just time. Each watch also stands out with a distinctively Levi's® look by featuring prominently the brand's iconic elements like the red Tab Device, Arcuate Stitching Design and rivets, and its signature denim and red tone.

Levi's® Spring/Summer 2005 watches come in four collections: Thread Stitch, Rivet and Icon for spunky, trendsetting young men and women who are quintessential Levi's® Red TabTM consumers. Each collection comes in two styles: 'Original' for the basic design and 'Street' for a more embellished look.

A key highlight for Thread and Stitch - both unisex collections - is a bold square face with the hour marks woven from thread just like on Levi's® jeans. The watch straps are also lined with the Levi's® red Tab Device, Arcuate Stitching Design and copper rivets, and are fitted with metal clasps.

The Thread collection comes with straps in denim and leather in two striking colour combinations - dark blue on top and red on the underside, and vice versa. The Thread watches in 'Street' style have straps which are ergonomically asymmetrical, settling snugly on the wrist. A strand of red leather and/or yellow-orange thread are/is woven through the straps for a carefree and fun touch.

The Stitch collection has a wide denim strap with the square watch-face resting on the centre, joined with a narrower brown leather piece that's to go around the inner wrist. For the 'Street' look, the ends of the yellow-orange thread that joins the denim to the leather are left to hang freely.

The Rivet collection, designed specially for women, comprises slender watches in denim and blue/red leather straps, with round faces bordered by square metal frames, and Velcro straps. The 'Original' style has a clean face without any hour mark while the 'Street' style has the Levi Straus & Co. name printed around the edges of the watch face. The 'Street' style watches in this collection also have asymmetrical straps.

The Icon collection has a vintage look especially for its 'Street' style with patches of cream and bold graphics of the Levi's® brand name printed on its denim strap ala camouflage-suit print. The strap is wide around the outer wrist, with a silver metal bar diagonally across the centre; and is narrow around the inner wrist. The metal bar is engraved with the Levi's® logo, and fitted with a small rectangular time display that shows the hour, minute and second in three concentric semi-circles. To complement the look, this is the only collection that uses a silver metal buckle.
